One of only six in the UK distilling English whisky, The Cotswolds Distillery also produces renowned and award winning gin. On top of that, it is an extremely popular destination offering tours as well as tastings and masterclasses. There are two further shops in the Cotswolds as well as their international online store.

Initially, our work with Cotswolds Distillery involved optimising user journeys across their site – facilitating easy purchase of their range of outstanding spirits. We analysed on-site data, plugging leaks and creating the right signposts for users to maximise their time with the brand – this included key page design and copywriting. We also delivered strategic recommendations for an ongoing programme of on-site enhancements.

We migrated their e-commerce operation to Shopify in order to integrate fully with their back-of-house systems and to take advantage of elements like mobile payments and address look-up: functionality that their premium audience expects from the brand. We were also then able to connect their online sales with product management, tour event management, merchandising, content management and reporting.

We also supported Cotswolds Distillery on a number of through-the-line campaigns driving both online as well as on/off-trade sales. For example, in summer 2019 we ran a country-wide campaign for Cotswolds Cloudy Gin creating a landing page designed to capture data, engage users and sell product. We also ran geographically targeted online adverts in support of the campaign, designed to activate potential customers who will have seen digital outdoor creative in areas where the product was available from Sainsbury’s. A huge uplift in sales accompanied a massive increase in brand awareness.
